A Weekend in New Orleans

Over the weekend Alison had a conference in her industry in New Orleans. I had never been to NOLA, so I used this as a way to finally visit the Crescent City. So while Alison was in her conference I was out in the French Quarter enjoying the city, and what a great city it is. The music, arts, culture, food, architecture and yes, the partying, are all top notch.

Loved going out and hearing brass bands play in the streets. Even though I’m not a big seafood fan, I still found some great eats. My favorite was the peanut butter bacon burger from Yo Mama’s. I had beignets from Cafe Du Monde and Cafe Beignet, enjoyed both but slightly preferred Cafe Du Monde’s. Just walking around the quarter I loved looking at all the buildings and that classic New Orleans style architecture.

It might have been a random, non-mardi gras weekend, but Bourbon Street was still nuts…and fun. By Sunday night I was pretty beat. New Orleans thoroughly kicked my butt. It was probably a good thing my first visit was during this time of my life and not during my college years. Only regret I had this weekend was falling for that damn New Orleans shoe trick (just google it). Yeah I was quite intoxicated when the guy got me, but still no excuse, I should have known better.

New Orleans, thanks for the good time. Look forward to visiting again. Below are some photos I took walking around the French Quarter.
