Earlier this week the Reds were in Houston taking on the Astros for a 3 game series. Since Houston is only about 3 hours away from Austin, I decided to make the trip to the first two games of the series. Also, the Astros are leaving the NL next season, so this might be one of the last times the Reds are in Houston for a while.
Luckily I got to see 2 wins from the Reds, one was an 8-3 victory that was 4 hours long and one of the longest games I’ve attended. The other was a lot more exciting as Drew Stubbs homered off former Reds closer Francisco Cordero in the 9th inning for a 4-2 comeback win. For once Reds fans were cheering a blown save by Coco.
I had great seats for both games. Monday night I was right by 3rd base and the Reds dugout, 13 rows up. Tuesday night was in the first row of the upper level right behind home plate. But with so few fans there, its not too difficult to find a good seat. Overall I liked Minute Maid Park. Watching baseball in a dome is different. It was kind of like watching a baseball game at a hockey arena. I prefer outdoor baseball, but its Houston where you have Texas heat and New Orleans like humidity, so the roof has to stay closed a lot. I’ll have some pictures of Minute Maid Park tomorrow, here are some game photos I took.
