Men In Black 3

When Men In Black 3 was first announced, I wasn’t very excited. MIB 2 was not very good and there had been reports of all sorts of production problems with the third film. I figured I would just wait for video to check this one out. But after receiving some positive reviews and looking for something relaxing to do on a Sunday night, I decided to check out MIB 3. It’s not without its flaws, but surprisingly I enjoyed the 3rd installment.
The good: Josh Brolin does a great job of playing a young Tommy Lee Jones. Overall, MIB 3 is well casted. Jemaine Clement also does a solid job as the villain Boris the Animal. And most importantly, for the most part its an entertaining film throughout. Not as good as the first, but definitely better than the 2nd, and you can’t really tell that it went through so many writers during production.
The bad: Pretty much every time travel themed movie has logistic problems. Not going to go into detail, but MIB 3 is no different. I didn’t really care for the ending climatic scene. It wasn’t so bad that it ruins the movie but I did shake my head at it. And there is no Frank the Pug (this upsets Alison more than me, but there are two references to Frank in the movie).
If you are fan of the first Men In Black and would like to see a better follow up than the sequel, then I’d recommend checking out MIB 3.
The Great Gatsby trailer
When this opened up with Jay Z and Kanye’s “No Church in the Wild” playing, I never would have guessed it was a trailer for the latest adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s The Great Gatsby. I don’t know if I love it or hate it, but it’s definitely an interesting trailer. At the very least with Luhrmann as the director it should be a fun movie visually. There have been other adaptations of Gatsby that haven’t really worked, we shall see if this continues that trend or is successful.
