Big Pig Gig 2012

Over the summer, ArtWorks brought the Big Pig Gig back to Cincinnati. If you don’t remember the original 2000 version, the Big Pig Gig is a public art exhibition featuring over 100 painted and decorated porcelain pigs from local artists and organizations which are then placed in various parts of the city. Walking around downtown it was impossible to go a block without seeing one of these porcelain pigs. Here are some photo collages of the pigs I saw when I walked around downtown last weekend.

Smale Riverfront Park

Washington Park isn’t the only new park to open in the heart of Cincinnati. Recently phase 1 of the Smale Riverfront Park surrounding The Banks downtown opened. This area is mostly located by The Banks (specifically Moerlein Lager House), Great American Ball Park and the Freedom Center. Overall there are still 4 phases to construct, but they got off to a good start with the first phase. There are fountains, an event lawn and a monument to Cincinnati’s Black Brigade. I wish I had time to see it at night as I’ve been impressed by the evening pictures and video I’ve seen. However, I liked what I saw and look forward to seeing what the whole riverfront will look once all phases are completed.

Here are some of my photos of Smale Riverfront Park:

Music Hall

Yesterday I posted some photos of Washington Park which had Cincinnati’s Music Hall in the background. Now here are some photos that feature Music Hall more prominently.
